Reiki - Universal Healing Energy

Reiki is a Japanese word which describes a system of healing which was originally known as Usui Shiki Ryoho, or the Usui Way, named by it’s founder Dr Mikao Usui. Whilst it is difficult to confirm the actual events in Dr Usui’s life due to two representations of it, we do know that Reiki was born out of his interest in studying ancient Sanskrit texts which contained a wealth of information about chakras and energies. According to history, he devoted his life to finding out more about the healing power of energy and to cut a long story short, he initiated the system of Reiki.

Reiki is a healing energy which is passed through the hands of the practitioner to the person receiving it. The healing energy that Reiki provides restores balance within the body where it is needed most. It can bring relief to a wide range of mental, emotional and physical afflictions. Reiki is not affiliated with any religion or indeed based on a particular faith. All it requires is that you are open to receiving it.

A practitioner is able to give Reiki because they have been taught through a series of initiations by a Reiki Master, whose lineage should go right back to Dr Usui.
